I live being able to turn on lights through Alexa without using an outlet. Set up is easy. Lights seem to last. Nice brightness and dim able through Alexa. Really happy with these.

I thought I did the proper homework with this item. I’ve struggled with HomeKit lightbulbs in terms of integration what is what is advertised. My reviews indicated this was a highly recommended homekit integration device. Unfortunately whenever I try to set it up it asks for a Hue hub. From my readings I thought that an Apple 4K hub would make it work. No matter what I try it won’t recognize my apple 4k as a hub and is completely useless. Probably operator error but after other Homekit hub failures I’m out of patience and hue may or may not be an appropriate frustration outlet

Three of the (4) lights are not working correctly. Two of them that are in a (3) bulb light fixture dim occasionally on their own for no reason and then light back up to the original setting. This is very annoying and it’s not a good look when we have friends over. The 3rd bulb that is not working correctly never even connected to the app, during set up it kept saying there was a problem,it is now just a regular (over priced) light bulb. I know how to set up these light, I have had (6) others for well over a year now with absolutely no problem, I’m not a happy camper right now, specially since I have seen these bulbs on sale at Home Depot for the same price, much quicker to pick up and or return if need be.

This is a great value. I would like the colored ones but these by far are so functional for me. I live in a two story with a small baby so it’s nice that I can turn my lights on from my phone prior to us making the journey up. I also love that they’re low wattage in regards to conserving on your electric bill.

I have a number of Phillips Hue bulbs in my home and they are totally easy to see up and they work equally well with both Google smart speakers and Alexa smart speakers. Easy and the price is nice

I love the “white” Philips Hue smart bulbs so much, and theoretically I would love to give them 5 stars. However, there is an annoying gotcha at work. There are two different versions of this bulb–the 1st gen bulb (any bulbs with the flatterned top are probably first gen) and the 2nd gen bulb. The 2nd gen bulb is nearly perfect–it is much more dimmable and gets brighter at its maximum (840 lumens instead of 6xx lumens). It also uses .5w more power at its maximum. They install easily, work well with the Hue app and switches, and last reliably (I’ve used them for 2-3 years now). There are a couple of annoying potential problems, though.First potential gotcha: Philips is being very cagey about explaining how to tell a 1st gen bulb from a 2nd gen bulb. There are multiple “model numbers” and serial numbers, and multiple 3rd-party websites attempting to clarify which are which, and how to tell the bulbs apart physically. The information is contradictory. The only way to know for sure, near as I can tell, is install one and see if it dims down quite low and then produces the extra brightness, and maybe put a KillaWatt meter on it at its maximum brightness to see if the power slightly exceeds 9w. For my purposes, I strongly prefer and need the 2nd gen bulbs, and I’m quite annoyed at Philips for making this so hard. Also, there are several similar lightbulbs and it’s quite easy to order a color-morphing bulb, or one which can change its Kelvin rating via app (those are called “which AMBIANCE” bulbs) instead of a simple white bulb (which has a fixed Kelvin of 2700, a warm sweet light good for late nights).Second problem is basically not Philips fault. It is Alexa. Alexa is very clunky at inheriting all the settings from the Philips Hue app (a so-called “Skill” in Alexa words). Google mini and Google Home Hub do much better. The problem is especially noticeable when upgrading lamps as I am doing now (from 1st gen to 2nd gen). The new upgrades must be treated like entirely new lights, and the old lights have to be carefully deleted everywhere (Phillips app, Google Home app, and Alexa app) before installing the new ones. Rooms must be reconfigured etc. It’s all very awkward and exhausting, especially when you have apps on multiple phones and multiple tablets. These companies need to do better when working together. But for the above hassles, I would give these lovely bulbs 5 stars. If you order from this particular store entry, you’ll get 2nd gen white smart bulbs. Or at least, I did the last time. But you won’t know for sure till you hook them up and see how they behave. Shame on Philips. They seem to be trying to dump their old inventory and don’t want people worrying about which version of smart bulb they have. It’s very insulting to their customers, as a strategy.

These Bulbs work great with Alexa.I find these Bulbs aren’t bright bright but a warm light. Please note: DO NOT place these Bulbs in enclosed fixtures such as ceiling lights as this will cause the lights to over heat and burn out.According to Philips (via an email), this is not a fire hazard but they do mark on their Boxes not to install in enclosed fixtures, Amazon description should state this, so a person knows before buying.

This is not a criticize Amazon. It’s to criticize everyone who sells these without telling you that you need another device — a proprietary device from Phillips called a bridge — to use these bulbs. That ties up another Ethernet port on your base router and another outlet for power.I blame Google in particular because its breezy marketing uses words like “easy” and “seamless” when it’s not because without the bridge it’s impossible. And, chatting with Google techs on this is no better because they use weasel words to evade the issue.I am unimpressed.

Read product information very carefully to ensure I was ordering the right product to pair with my Google Home. Product specified that Bridge or HUB was not required however when I tried to pair the bulbs with Google Home either HUB or Bridge was required. I wasted the money to purchase 2 boxes (4 bulbs) without HUB or Bridge and now have to send back to replace with same and required items.
