Google Nest Thermostat

Neat features. Fairly simple install with heat pump system. It lasted 17 days folks. 17 days til it decided it could no longer utilize its internal WiFi module. No amount of resets or reboots fixed it. Google’s warranty process? Hold my credit card hostage for the purchase price while they ship me a refurbished unit that hopefully won’t also fall victim to this. FYI. Known issue to google. Many folks have experienced this. One, that sucks. Two, google should have a streamlined replacement process by now. I don’t have a better option, just sharing that 17 days for a product of this price range is hideous. Especially to have a known issue render it useless.See more

This is good and I recommend everyone to buy this one. It is better than other thermostat found in the market. Instead of wasting your money on other, purchase it. It can be controlled through app and you can add your routine in the system so, it get turned off and on whatever time you want.See more

Works so well! You need to charge it overnight before you install it and it does not come with a charger. It has made controlling my homes temperature a breeze. I can control the temperature from my phone or the base. Glad I made the purchase.See more

I’m a huge fan of Google Nest products and most of our smart home system is on their stack. I had the Nest Thermostat E at another home before installing the Gen2, and it was interesting to see the differences.Installation wise, the two products are nearly identical. As with other Nest products, it was easy to follow the instructions. We just unscrewed the old thermostat, snapped in the 5 coloured wires, screwed it back on and everything turned on. The battery started charging and Google directed us to the website to download the app to complete the rest of the setup.Compared to the E, this thermostat is about 10% larger and thicker. Instead of a frosted white surface it’s a mirror finish. The thermostat uses a touch screen instead of a dial. Some things are nicer for this, but I really liked the tactile click and turn of the E. Compared to Gen1, 2 is supposed to be smaller, and the newer version that’s out is even thinner (but still thicker than the E)I like the Nest as a thermostat but do find I end up turning off some of the auto scheduling. If you manually override any settings, it tends to learn weird preferences. I see some other negative reviews about it – I don’t really use this feature, so I’m still happy with the product for being able to remotely manage the thermostat, and for general ease of setup and use.Unless you’re actively repainting or fixing your house, I recommend getting the trim plate in case your old thermostat is not exactly the same size. Between the Nest E and Nest, I find the E good enough for most cases, but the fact the new Nest supports the sensors is something I’ll be looking into further. The first one we ordered looked like it was refurbished and would not work. The second one worked but within two days died. I’ve had nest products for years and loved them. Nest’s products always have me a secured feeling when I purchased them. They work as they advertise. It came with Everything you need! A plate to cover old wall imperfections. I metal plate to secure the thermostat. Sticker labels to ensure all wires are accounted for. Even a nice looking screw driver in case you don’t have the fight size tool!! It has been a few weeks and it works like a charm! Highly recommended!!See more

This thermostat when it is set at 72° heat It doesnt activate until it reaches 70° Then it runs all the way in till 75° Its way off But Im not happy with this item for the price I pay I would think it would be something really good and better. I am in love with this! I can change the temperature from anywhere and I love how I can be in bed and change the temperature without having to get out of my covers! I’ve tried to convince my husband we needed the Google Nest Thermostat for years and we finally got one! Not only is it so much better than the standard one we had before, it has exceeded my expectations! The new design is so sleek and modern, it really elevates all home thermostats. It is almost like a statement piece of art on the wall, so elegant. I love the fact that if we are away, it knows to adjust the heat and when we come home, we can make sure our house is a comfortable temperature for us to come home too. The Google Nest also tells us what devices are on and in which room they are on in which is a great added feature I had no idea about. My husband had a little bit of difficulty installing the Nest because we have a more complicated heating system that needed a passcode to bypass the typical install, but once troubleshooting and explaining the issue with the Google help team, he was able to fix the problem. I’m so happy that we finally got the Google Nest Thermostat! Nest is going back. Installed properly, and actually functioned well, but would not connect to the App. I went through all the self-help steps online, including checking compatibility issues (all fine) and removing the device and charging it with a phone charger. Connection to the WiFi was fine too. However, no connection to App. THERE IS NO LIVE HELP WHATSOEVER. YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN. And this has nothing to do with COVID-19. Google simply does not want to be bothered. No way to call (telephone number does not exist) no live chat or any other form of assistance is available. If you have a problem, the only option is to go online, to the user forums or to you tube. After spending hours trouble-shooting, I gave up. I do have 2 other Nest thermostats, for years, in another location.
